Yah, the corner CM junkyard down the road.

Sorry, couldn't resist. I think this is a question for Doug.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I'd like to find one sitting around too. That wasn't behind a fence and No Trespassing sign.

There are very few in the Anthracite in any condition. And those would be at Harmony if I have my facts straight. Banks could comment on those and the exact number.

Western Pa. who knows. The Joy plant is near Pittsburgh.

West Virginia they would be all over the place. But finding one would be the trick. Coalfire or Pete could help out on those.

Sitting outside is the tough part. There were several we found down in WV...2 in SW Pa but those are buried in junk and difficult to pull off a good picture. A bunch around Morgantown. The best bet we have had is just get lucky when one comes out of an active mine for service.

Buried in Junk !!!!

Sounds like a restoration project to me.

Of course modern junk is never as much fun as old junk. Until the modern junk is old junk and everyone wonders why no one keep one.

Wellllllllll they had a price tag under the junk......$35,000 each both Joy.

Sam ... your best bet is to catch one in the rebuild shop. Then you don't have the MSHA issues.

Exactly what it sounds like. A company that tears them down, machines what is broken, replaces what needs fixed, new wiring and maybe a repaint and then sells them,

A working restoration.

If they are off mine property the company would fall under OSHA rules as opposed to MSHA rules. OSHA is much more visitor friendly.

Why is it that all the fun stuff take a boat load of money?

Pete. If you post looks funny ..... some moderator hit "edit" instead of "quote". Sorry 'bout that.

If you could make it to Beckley, WV then Phillips machine has probably 50 laying around to be rebuilt.

I stopped at Phillips when I was out there and didn't find them too willing to give tours or let one just look around.
