Well we have been slow posting this up. We broke ground over 3 weeks ago on our new shop track.

With our NEW machine shop/ repair shop it just would not be complete without a track serving it. We had constructed the track with 60 lb rail DUAL GAUGE 36" & 42". We left plenty of room for future expansion for additional gauges.

Special thanks to the construction crew:
Pete J. , Dozer operator, Backhoe operator
Ron J. , track materials
Mike S., track construction & spiker operator
Mike J., track construction & job supervisor

Almost the same spikes but these are shorter, easier with the automatic machine.

We have been building standard gauge track across the midwest & that piece of equipment is a back saver. Easy to transport & runs great off one of our air compressors. We used to operate a huge Hydraulic spiker for standard gauge. It was heavy but it picked the tie up & squeezed the spike into the tie. Two operators sat side by side & had two alignment joysticks but if you missed the tie plate holes it just bent the spike over.

Interesting that is enough people to form a track construction UNION. Who will be the union president then?
