How many Kentucky miners are here on the forums?
Anyone here from Southern Indiana and Southern Illinois?

Reason i am asking is i have what i am sure is to be a thought provoking question about u/g coal mining and would like some input from Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois miners. And im sure a lot of the West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania miners would also have some interesting input. Im sure some input from the UK miners would be pretty interesting also.

Im not a coal miner but i have shaft and slope experience. Im more familiar with a jack leg and mucker than i am a pinner or a shuttle car.

The Illinois Basin is not well represented here. We've had once active miner from Illinois post for awhile, but haven't heard from him in long time.

Welcome aboard and post your question. As long as it stays mostly civil anything coal mining is fair game.

What was once the Ker McGee Mine was sold to Bob Murray aka American Coal and it was located near Galatia Illinois. Im not sure what kind of operation it was when KerMcGee owned it but im thinking it was primarily a long wall mine when Murray owned it.

Any miner from Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky included whether you are a rock miner or a coal miner.

Ill give it a few more days to see how many more posters might comment and ill post my question. And i promise it will be a civil question with no trouble making.
