You beat me to it. I was just about to post a topic about it.
Anyways, I'm pretty pumped for the premiere. It looks very interesting.

i bet its gonna be all played up and dramatized like every other stupid drama reality tv show on anymore......

that gold mining show was one of stupidest, lamest, most idiotic things i ever wasted my time on.... ill never get that hour back of my life. hope this coal show is a bit better. if its only a slight bit better it will be an improvement......

The reviews have been very good, both from the coal belt and the big city media-types.

I'm somewhat concerned that they may overplay the danger side for effect. And maybe I'm downplaying it at the same time. But it looks like they are trying.

Of course there going to sensationalize the danger, and proabably make a big deal about the poverty angle, make the UMWA out to be heros, etc. etc. Don't get me wrong coal mining is a hazordous occupation. BUT every miner is well aware of the hazards if there not they dont belong in the mines simple as that. And as far as the poverty goes coal mining does pay well and is a VERY fullfilling job I cant imagine working outside the industry and most guys that are in it are lifers.

I'm not certain of the union status of Cobalt Coal. I would think based on the size it would be non-union. But there was a question on the employment app about UMWA, that I didn't understand.

So Chris I didn't see anything the shaw would have too much problem with. The miner splice looked pretty bad. What did you see?

Hollywood term. Most folks that I know call them a Miner or more properly a Continuous Miner.

Keep in mind how new I am to the Mine forums. I am quite the Noob, and I do make mistakes.

Nope this mine is non-union. The guy who threw his back out was my bolt man at Pocahontas Coal.

Kal,

Not a problem. Just pointing out that they were using a term I have never heard used.
