Thanks for sharing. We visited the Clover Hill Mine about 5 years ago. There was not much to see in terms of the mine but it was amazing to see these buildings still standing and serving as private residences. Can I ask what book these pictures come from?

Found the mine today but somehow missed the interesting buildings. Are they also on Butler Hill Road?

I could not find any tailings, only this huge boulder with a drill hole.

Mikeg showed us this one so I cannot recollect exactly how to get to the building. I should point out it was in excellent shape and is now a residence.

The book is titled "Somers, Its People and Places" by the Somers Historical Society. I think you can best see the "high" side of the plant from butlerville road. The driveway is at the end of Hilldale on the right but the original mine property extended over to Anasville to the south. My mom was in there years back as a realtor. It is a two family and atleast one of them is crabby. Really not much to see with out venturing up the private road and driveway. I found the remains of some old industrial equipment on top of the pipeline to the north, couldnt find any workings. Further west there is suposed to be the Travis mine. I think its situated on Shindagen Rd., Mahopac. If you take Warren St. north from 2002- Somers, over the hill it turns into Shindagen, past the power lines, past a camp and just past house on the left, left or west side were the no tresspassing signs are. When the leaves are fuller, I will get lost in the woods. :?

Did the equipment on the pipeline appear to have been from the mine or was it newer? any pics?

The equipment on the pipeline was very old. I would guess it has to be from the mining. It was on the lower side (south) of the pipeline- was probably disturbed or piled up when they put the line thru. There is another one of those ponds that may be a pit not far from the pipeline where it crests the hill. The best place to access the pipeline is from the road that comes thru the Green Briar development to Butlerville neighborhood. You will see the pond. I didn't get any pics. To me it was mostly iron junk like pipes and large sprockets. There was one piece that looked to be a large drill with a massive flywheel. North of the pipeline there are two odd houses with a shared driveway coming from the green briar development. There were also some strange, delapidated outbuildings- looked kind of industrial. I never explored over the hill and down the steep side of the pipeline- doubt anything is there

That's interesting. How about a little history
