Hello folks, I was looking for some coal mining sites and happened upon this one. Thought I would sign up and say hello. I don't know anything about the antrocite mining but I have seen a few Bituminus mines. I spent 14 years working mines in Mingo,Boone and Logan Counties in West Virginia, , and my last 20 years of work was a mine here in southern Ohio. 34 years total. electrician/mechanic all underground UMWA. Worked conventional, miner and longwall. Retired the day I turned 55 and now spend my time hunting, fishing, flying and honey-doo's. and being a grand paw. Yep, I'm an old fart :D

Nice to have ya on! the Ohio Vintage Coal Co. guys probably know the mines you worked at...they're all over the bitty land. Good to have some "old time" (if you will  ) knowledge around here.

..I see you said flying in what you like to do there... are you a pilot?

Yeah well I have a gold and rust caprice banks so put that in your fancy aeroplane and smoke it! Anyway welcome aboard! It's always good to have another mine electrician around. I work in one of the larger surface operations around here as a electrician/lineman and underground at one of our smaller operations as a electrician/rockman/laborer/buggy runner/etc etc so on and so forth.
