October 21, 2005

A 12-foot-deep hole opened up Friday on the front lawn of the Catherine A. Dwyer School, prompting police and school officials to fence off the area until it can be properly filled. tyson trish / daily record Shawn Heath and Eric Masterbone put up a danger sign on a fence surrounding the sink hole that opened up in front of the Catherine A. Dwyer School on Friday. Bob Realmeuto, left and Shawn Heath cover a sink hole at the Catherine A. Dwyer School on Friday.

We need to drive by this and check it out. They say in front of the school. The old school was located in front of Dwyer School which wasn't torn down till after Dwyer was open for a number of years. Not sure exactly where this sink hole is...

Actually I was there this past Saturday.. It was exactly what I thought, but it was a sink hole into the basement of the old school. Apparently they didn't fill the basement properly when they took down the school. It was already filled when I got there, a red fence around the area which was filled, and this was exactly where the school was. There was no mining activity documented anywhere near that place, but there is always history importanance to it.
