Friday the 13th 2013, what could go wrong....... So, we were contacted to do some aerial photography with the machine for a arts festival at Bethlehem Steel. We started out the flight getting shots of the arts building and then moved over to the steel stacks for some footage. then disaster struck. i was flying camera as we panned away from the building and jim flew the thing right into a wire hanging from one of the stacks! it dropped about 100 feet to the roof of a building, bounced off and down behind the stacks. ugh. so we were going to try and go in and get it but i guess even the museum folk arent allowed in there any more, its too "dangerous" so we contacted the head of security for Sands resorts, and they escorted us around the property and see if we could see it. he was saying he thought they would send the fire dept in to maybe go look for it as it was "too risky" for us to. we though we would never find the remains in there as it was now dark by the time we got it all coordinated. however i remembered all the lights on the thing and it actually might be easier to see. as we walked around the back of of the structure believe it or not we found the darn thing! it was about 100 feet inside the fence and down on the ground. it bounced off a roof and ended up on the rr tracks where they went into an old building. the camera was broken off and i found that about 50 feet away from where the main wreckage landed. we are working on recovering the file now from the camera. its hopeful even though the camera lost power and didnt finalize the file. we have a guy working on it. there is data there he needs to finalize it and make it recognize it as a video. as soon as i have it ill get it hosted up and link it here. i never saw it coming as i had the camera looking backwards away from the direction of flight as it was a pan out. jim was flying from the ground and though he would clear it by a long shot. guess not........ poor things destroyed! ah, it was getting out dated anyway, it was almost a year old. better technology out now

You guys don't have good luck down here. I just remembered that when esaresky75 came down two years ago, one of the blast furnaces was on fire and my camera was malfunctioning.

Artsy Fartsy and Chris don't go along too well. LOL. Hey, if it's any consolation, Gram was talking about the Huber tonight and my grandfather and I were talking about the mines and I remembered your breaker vid. So we watched it, they could not believe the quality and the shots. We really enjoyed it, so did mom.

Nice, glad they enjoyed it! I have a copy of the footage from Bethlehem steel. It's really good! I can show anyone in person but it can't get up on the Internet till after the film is released. There may be a short teaser video though. And yes the crash footage did get recorded, at least the first few seconds........ ;)

I just showed someone who is a friend of the family the pictures of the busted drone and the footage. He flies drones, and his reaction was spot on. ("[explitive deleted], that sucks! Hope he can fix it!")

BTW, did reconstruction happen?
