Hey Guys,
Since I have tons and tons of mine videos and footage doing nothing on my computer, I decided to post up a video or two every week. These might be edited or just raw footage. Also if anybody else has a video that is relevant to hard rock mining post it up!

Gold in Vermont

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3rNXUv2_AU

In the 1850s Vermont had its own small scale gold rush as prospectors flooded in searching the streams for gold. In this video we seek out placer gold in vermont much the same way it would have ben found in the 1850s, by panning by hand. We then rappel underground into an abandoned gold mine in search of gold bearing ore.

Absolutely wonderful video. Any plans to push the drift farther past the stope?

No probably won't be able to dig through the fill inside but there is another sealed adit that could yield access to the other side.

Hey Mike, I've got a few questions about your latest videos from the Sparta mine.
1. Was this a recent trip?
2. What type of cap lamps were y'all using?
3. What kind of camera?
4. In the area where you found the barrel, there was what looked like an old bed frame and springs imbedded in the flowstone. Was this at the bottom of a shaft that had been used as a dump or did that stuff find its way underground some other way?
Again you are doing a great job with the videos, I am enjoying them greatly. Maybe your videos will spark some activity on the forum here. I need to head up to Pigeon Mountain and get some video of the iron mines there. Maybe I can do that in the next couple of weeks.

Hey ngunderground
To answer your questions
I am using a stenlight, Greg and Mike are using some Chinese LED miners lamps (made for chinese miners not US consumers) you can find them on ebay and they are very reasonably priced and decent quality.

I am shooting on a canon c100 one of the many things I love about this camera is low light capability. Just as a recommendation for filming underground, camcorders, go pros, i phones etc. do not film well in low light. For filming in a mine I have found that dslr cameras work best my previous camera was a canon t2i and that worked really well for me.

Yes the bed frame was thrown down the shaft. Above the mine is a very residential area, maybe a hole opened up in someones yard and they thought it was a great way to get rid of the old bed and then they had the hole closed up, just a guess.

Would love to see the any footage you get of the iron mines!
