Thanks guys for the tips on the flints.
Everything works, the flint sparks, the wick goes up and down, Now I need to know what kind of fuel can I use. Can I use Coleman lantern fuel? or is there another type of fuel I should use?

Thanks
Dave

Dave,
I and everyone around here uses the Coleman lantern fuel in their safety lamps and I have never had a problem with it.

Dave, as Scott mentioned coleman fuel is preferable. ive also used naptha, and one time wax and grease remover from our paint shop at work here cause that's all I had available to me at the time..... its 99% naptha. coleman fuel smells the best anyway...... :D

Hi, I have a Koehler mining lamp Approval No 201. from my grand father. I have been trying to get the bottom tank off but have not been able to. It unscrews about a 1/8 turn and stops solid. Can anyone please tell me how to get the bottom off. Also there are two little what I'll call plugs on the top edge of the bottom about 1/8" in diameter. Can anyone tell me what they are?
Thank you very much for the help.
Dave

How can you figure out the age of my No. 201 lamp?

It may be kind of tough to put an exact date on your lamp. A product called Mother's mag wheel polish would be a good thing to polish it with.
