Excellent work today boys, we made it a day ahead of schedule, right jt? that was a great day....... well with the exception of adam smashing his hand between a rather large and stubborn rock and a timber set! yea other than that it was a great day. 7 car loads out. we probably have one more left from clean up work on the sides and stuff but we are doing nicely. tomorow we are putting in the final timber set and then its dress up the gangway time!

well today we finally finished our gangway..... excellent :D well 95 percent finished it. all the hard work is done. now all we have to do is a little clean up, stone the bottom and get more 1 inch plank to build our coal chute. good stuff. we are not going to put rail in this season as the tours will be starting in just 3 weeks. after working non stop weekends since christmas we are finally taking a weekend off! nice! so, ill put up a progress pic and probably a gallery on ugm tomorrow. good work guys we made it!

Yeah, the coal chute will be cool. That will be add a nice touch to the gangway. It might look a little too new for the first few months, but as we have seen with other projects we've made out of wood, they seem to age nicely...

Wow, that's impressive. Why not use that as fill for extending the roadbed for the narrow gauge railroad?

we can extend it without fill just by grading the side of the hill.

Its funny after all that shoveling it doesn't seemlike its that much but when you look at the pile afterwards its hard to believe that we took all of that out by hand, I know afterwards on sunday when we were down where we unload I was looking around and said we couldn't have made that pile, as I looked closer I was like holy cow that is from us shoveling, there is also more down over the bank, and don't forget, when we first started on the project the first couple weekends we were going out past the picture stop and unloading.

That is some impressive amount of stuff pulled out of the mine. How much did you toss down the side of the hill?

about half is on the surface in that pile, the other half down the hill. we are gonna push it all over before the tour starts. now i see how the rail bed gets wider every year  also like adam said, for the first half of the project we were dumping almost all of it out at the end before the turn into the pit.
