HAve been going to Skulkyll county (i know iknow i spelled it wrong) taking pics of what is there mining related on B&W film, anyway on my more recent trips I stopped by the St Nick to get pics of the power plant, when I noticed what appeared to be the remenants of a head frame, at first I thought it was an odd shaped tower for elect. wires, but on further insp it appears that the cradles on to which once held the axles to the hoisting wheels arte present anyone seen this? Also any other places down there worth checking out are greatly appriciated.

you should check out the springdale shaft. turn out of mahanoy city at the light that takes you under the light blue railroad bridge. at the Y turn right. the shaft will be about a half mile on the left, cant miss it!

i dont know, it may be done by now. when we were there, the hoist house was still all open, but the shaft had yellow caution tape around it and stay out stay alive signs all over it. also tom suppe from the lackawanna mine tour said they asked him if he wanted the elevator cage from there. so im guessing soon, if it hasnt started already, i dont get down that way often.

SERIOUSLY, We would be interested in completely relocating the headframe to go with our steam hoists for Ohio Vintage Coal Co.. If anyone can find out we can send one of our crews in to save that thing. We can start in 2008 no problem.
