Well, i did it now! for our project next year we will need a mucking machine to make this work a little...... or alot easier. so..... i tracked down 2 of them that are even 42 inch gauge and available. they were not sure how long they were going to be there for or if they were going to be scrapped. one is in perfect operating order and the other needs control work or is a parts mucker. I have seen this stuff get scrapped from right under us so i didnt want to wait for ashland to attempt to get funding for this so i just went ahead and bought them myself! nice! so, now we have muckers to play with boys! heres some pics. John from the tour is going to pick them up with his dads roll back.

Cool now those are going to be fun to run. You guys going to try to get the one that is running to finish the gangway at pioneer? and are you going to restore the other one to add to the collection of your toys (electric mine moto and cars)? When you get then up and running you need to video or take photo's of them and post them.

no, we will have the gangway finnished before these things are ready to go. the one with the air lines on it will go and works perfectly as im told. as you can see in the other one the controls are missing. you stand on that plate between the wheels to work it. but yes it is a nice little addition to our list of toys. they are going to be used for next years project at the tour. well i should say next work session after the tour, that starts in november. cant talk about the details yet, still doing some figuring, plus dont want to ruin the surprise. but if you havent been on the tour, definatly go on it this year then next and wait till you see the difference!

Chris do you have better shots of the controls and mechanics of these things? I only see two hoses there. dose the bucket just lift? how many air rams run this thing?

i didnt look at it that close, but youre correct there are only 2 hoses the rest are hard lines. look close you can see them. those go to the air motor. that small lever they go to moves if forward and backwards. the large handle behind that moves it side to side. and the one forward of that lifts the bucket and throws it over the top.

To bad you wont get them up and running prior to the gangway being finished. So are you going to fix and or paint them up before next years project? I know you said the one runs good as you were told.

oh yea we are gonna make them nice this spring and summer. plus the gangway isnt high enough to run them in right now. when the bucket would throw over the top it would hit the collar on the timberset.

Yeah, great find. If I remember correctly, those are similar to the one outside of Sterling Hill. Pretty neat. I'm sure those will be a blast to get working and operate. Just gotta get your air situation fixed. Are the wheels powered on those or just the bucket?

yep the whole thing is powered. 3 controls, bucket up and down, bucket left and right and drive forward and reverse. should be a blast to operate. the borough is supposed to bring up an air compressor as im told.

Looks like there is only controls on one of them? Besides the missing controls, hoses, what else is wrong with the other one?
